I have a Ruger #1 stainless in .45/70.It has a laminated stock.
I have some very old walnut my grandfather cut over fifty years ago.
I am trying to find a company that will take my wood and make me a semi- inlet stock.
Just looking for suggestions.

Thanks,
Clay M

Ruger doesn't sell any replacement stocks for the #1

The wood I have is nothing fancy. It is just black walnut that my grandfather cut on his sawmill back in the 50's .
I loved my grandfather very much, so the wood means a great deal to me.
If I like the stock, I will probably put in on my .405 win. I consider that my # one hunting rifle at the present time.

+1 for Treebone Carving, a fine man to do business with.

In the past, Treebone only offered the Alex Henry forearm. If this is the one you want on your Ruger number one, your in. Better check with him on that if you want the more traditional / normal forearm.

Some years ago I converted an old military Rolling Block from 43 Egyptian to 40-60 Sharps Straight, and I got the wood from Treebone. I had no problem fitting the stock to the action, and I was quite happy with the end result. I'd recommend Treebone in a heartbeat.

I STRONGLY recommend you avoid those crooks at all costs! Google "macon gunstocks" and check the reviews, it's a real eyeopener plus there is a very revealing multi-page thread on another popular gun forum covering some of their antics, the link will surely come up near the top of the search!
