I'd love to see some cast loads for this in one easy to use place! Currently
wanting to load a 98gr saeco RFPB in my rebarreled model 93. Heavy
weights will be used later also. Ed Harris's weights don't go this low.
Thanks Aaron

Try 2.7 - 3 gr Bullseye under that 98 gr RHPB bullet, you'll love it. 800-900 fps and accuracy should be very good.

I've used 6 grs Red Dot under Lyman 311008 PB and RCBS 32-115 FN GC in my Ruger 77 with good accuracy to 100 yds. That's about tops for the PB Lyman before accuracy falls off. The GC boolit will stand another .5 to .7 grs and still be accurate. I'm casting straight WW. I get my best accuracy using Winchester or Federal cases using a large pistol primer. :castmine:

I got some good groups with a 311407 Loverin (actually the Lee 311407 GB) with H4895 powder. I had these seated out pretty good, but still had the GC in the boiler room. Load was 23 to 24 grains (WORK THIS UP!!).

Went for a "whisper load" using 5.0 gr of Unique & the Lee C160TL slug. Was louder than I expected. Drop at 40 yards was about 6" lower than the above load.

Gonna get a 160gr tumble Lube Lee mould soon, only powders I have is IMR Hi-Skor 700X, IMR 3031, and Hogdon H-4895. Will be sized at .311. Any suggestions? To be shotfrom Yugo SKS, btw.

Armoredman- I'm using the NEI version(original) of that boolit. Shot from a Ruger 77 in 7.62x39 , 22 grains of Alliant's Reloader 7 makes honest and repeatable 1 inch groupd at 100 yards. I've been meaning to try IMR-4895 because I have quite a bit of it. I've read, but not tried, that a full case of 4895 (up to the base of the boolit) works well- somewhere around 26 grains. Supposedly, the burning rate and bulk of that powder make it impossible to put too much in the case and cause pressure problems.

Hi. I am not shooting 98gr bullets but I do shoot a CZ527 in 7.62x39. Right now I am working up a load using WW cases, WW primers, and Saeco #311 bullet using the gas check. Seating the bullet so the gas check is even with the base of the neck leaves the lube groove exposed. I do not lube it. Best load thus far as been 7.5grs Green Dot for 2.0-inch group of 9 shots at 100 yards from a rear bag and bipod using a 9x scope. The rifle is so light you have to hold the stock into your shoulder hard and hold down the bipod leg with your other hand to keep it from hoping sideways 6 inches at each shot! The Saeco 311 bullets drop at 186grs checked with my alloy. I have shot them air colled at 9bhn and heat treated at 22bhn groups are equally and no leading issues either way.
The gun and bullet want to shoot but I think the GD is a little fast on the pressure curve. Will be going to Unique next weekend to see if the slightly slower pressure peak will give better results.
P.S. velocity is right in the 1250fps range with the 7.5 GD load.

Did anyone dig up anything for 7.62x39mm and 700x with this 160gr boolit? 5 grain start?

today I shot the bullets I cast 3 weeks ago, and holy cow what a surpise, I'm using a ideal 311415, wieghed in at 172 grains gas checked, with liqiuid alox, and IMR 4895, boy was i surprised to find 5 shots in bound at 50 yards with open military sites.
I stared out with IMR4895 and as a starting point used 25 grains of powder, and had to hand cycle the action, bumped it up to 26 grains and the action closed on all 5 empty cases causing nasty guges and cuts on the brass, bumped it up to27 grains and action started to function right and drop brass on the bench right by my hand, it printed roughly 5", then bumped it up to 28 grains funtioned great dumped brass off table ablout a foot from tble (table is 2feet wide and I take half),group size shrunk to roughly t 3-4", then 29 gains smooth running and load tightened to 1", wow I'm excited, then 30 grains same powder, one ragged hole, and i'm totaly excited, I did not want to go to work, loaded 31 grains and she opened up to 2" well I guess i found my guns sweat spot, bythe why I was using the info from a sticky that was posted 02-19-07 by c.e.harris, also loaed 2400 and got board with hand cycling acon on my china sks, was using win brass, win srp's it was fun.next up will be 303 brit then mauser then mosin, and I thought uniqe was my ticket. kjg

In my YUGO SKS I use our GB fat 311041 and enough surplus 4895 for 1700 fps. Accuracy is great and action function is 100%. See http://www.castbullet.com/shooting/sks.htm for an article.

I don't know but taking measurements with my mic say no pressure signs but did feel a little punch, and the cases were warm to the touch, will try it on a pig to see what it do, also was checking for any lead build up and say ZERO. fun load going to see what happens next in an ak. sure wish I had bought that cornograph I found at the local fleamarket. kjg by the way it was only 15.00
