I want a 6x47 bolt rifle so I got a reamer and gauges. Then started pondering actions and settled on a 1891 Argi. What is the best way to get the bolt down to 223 head size?
The barrel will be Rem 243 takeoff if there's enuff meat left after the old chamber is removed.
Thank Aaron

You will need to modify the extractor also

Good luck
My two 6x47s are on Remington actions.
They are great prairie dog guns

The bolt face itself can be reduced by sweating on a simple reduction ring. Be careful, do not affect heat treat.

If you even manage to get it done the extractor will be a nightmare you will never forget also the 91 is a 42,000 lb. action ( MAX ). What pressures are you planning on running ?

Nothing wrong with the cartridge or the action either for that matter but there are much better combinations out there.

The feed rails are in the magazine so this will have to be tweaked. The bolt face can have a spacer pinned or sweated in it. The extractor will be an issue as it will have to be welded up and hand fit. The extractor in a 91 is much smaller than a 93 or up action.
The diameter of the cartridge will probably give you some problems.
It might be easier and cheaper in the long run to buy a cheap Savage Axis in 223 and a barrel and just screw it on.
