Backstory: I needed a replacement grip frame screw for one of my Ruger SBH's and the shipping from Midway was more than the cost of the screw. So I looked around for something else to add to the order to better absorb the shipping. In my wish list from a previous shopping session I found the 2 and 6-cavity C430-310-RF molds. I pulled the trigger and the screw plus the molds were on the way. The molds are intended for use for my 44 Mag pistols as they would not work in my .444 Marlin's as these need CB's sized at .432". However I don't intend on using GC's and the weight/recoil may be a problem as I am still recovering from my carpal tunnel surgery. My intention is to copy prior work and mill the mold blocks down to create a CB that drops at around 265gn. I am only a hobby machinist but I'm quite happy with the result. If you only milled off the GC portion, I am surprised they came in that light. I think mine still weighed 290 grains when I did mine, which actually made me happier.

I milled off the top of the mold blocks so the cavities are shorter hence the lighter CB's.

Thats what I did with mine too. I only milled until the GC shank portion was gone. Mine cast at 315 grains to start, and 290 grains after. I haven't gotten to see how they shoot just yet. Good luck with yours.

Thanks for the info and pictures. Any range report on the new boolits performance?

Nice job, I keep thinking I should do that to mine. A gc just isn't needed pushing a 280gr+ bullet at handgun vel.
