I have been shopping for about a year for a Marlin 1894 in 44 magnum with a nice piece of wood. I finally found one on Saturday. So I bought it. Now all I need is a good rear peep sight. It should be here in a week. I better get out in the garage and get some bullet's cast this week. Tom.

Nice. Interesting figure. I've never seen one like that before. That's what I look for in firearms. I've paid more for wood, and have always been very happy I did.
It's a unique work of art, that no one else will ever have... :drinks:

The rifle has one rub mark on the right hand size of the receiver. I will try to fix that myself.Other than that their are no marks. I bought it for $390. I thought that was a good price?? Tom.:castmine:
Outstanding! There's been better wood coming through in the last few years, but this is the nicest I've seen. Almost a presentation grade.
Is your rifle drilled and tapped for receiver sights? I bought an 1894 SS and found MARLIN has saved a couple bucks by not drilling and tapping the side for a LYMAN or WILLIAMS receiver sight. NOT GOOD!!! The Skinner sights look good, but I've not held one in my hand.
Good luck with my personal favorite rifle

I am told the older Marlins have screw holes on the left side of the receiver , already drilled and tapped , for a receiver sight .
If yours is newer , as is mine , Willimans makes a peep sight that used the top rear scope base mounting holes .
Or go for a tang mounted peep sight .
God bless

Head0001--I found one on Saturday too, but mine does not have as nice a piece of wood as yours! Congratulations!
Mine is new and this one has Ballard type rifling. Here we go again! Just glad I have a Winnie Trapper that shoots cast real well.
