On Wednesday Medal of Honor recipient Ed 'Too Tall' Freeman died, at age 70. He was one of 2 Huey 'slick' pilots who made 14+ trips into LZ 'X-Ray' during one evening of the 3 day battle for the Ia Drang valley during Sept 1967. They continued to ferry in ammo and out wounded 'boys', withstanding 'withering enemy machine gun fire'. Ed sustained 5 bullet wounds, multiple crewmen were wounded, and the two had to use several new 'hueys' before all the wounded where out of the battle. This was after commanders on the ground stopped 'Dust off' hueys from further trips in, because of the danger! The book and subsequent movie 'We were Soldiers once, and Young', portrayed the battle, theirs and other's bravery. AND THIS DIDN"T MAKE THE NEWS!!!! Lots of other **** DID! We salute you 'Too Tall' and may you rest in PEACE!!! If you haven't read their stories, you owe it to yourself to do so!

Sorry all! I think I knew it was an old story posted on Facebook. I should have looked in to further prior to posting. Flyer
