Ok hear is my plan ,the way I understand it is you get molds and then a gun to match. So I got a used seaco 148 wc coming in today . But I think I need a swc as well hear is my choice ,rcbs 38-150kt, lyman 358-477, lyman-358-429, or lyman 358-156 gc. I have not shot revolvers much in the last 20 years, but since I started casting I am trying to catch up. Planing to pick up new ruger 6 in gp 100 Monday. I am not planning on pounding them out of it at first just playing around to get the feel of it. I have so many questions I can't remember them all so I will be asking them along the way.

unless you just want to use gas checks-- the rcbs boolit is great as 358429 although a bit heavy-- the .358156 is also very good but uses gc-- I have not used the 358-477 like the others--

My two favorite molds for a 357 are a MP 359125 for general plinking. And a MP 359640 for hunting. Nothing wrong w/ a 358156 clone either. I don't buy the brands of molds you listed as I got tired of them never being the proper size. The custom makers are worth the money IMO.

It sounds like the RCBS mold maybe the way to go,since it is a 150 gn. My experience is that the .38 158 SWC needs to be a little hot to stabilize the bullet. My experience for the 158 gn. Bullets is that a velocity of 840 fps is needed. The 150 would stabilize at less velocity than the 158 gn. The same holds true with the 148 WC with a velocity of 775 plus FPS. Watch for keyholing with low powder charges.

I was looking at some used older molds, and saw the ones I posted that look to be in good condition.the rcbs 150 kt seams to have nice squared lube grove compared to the lyman .but the lyman 358-156 has dubbel crimp grooves could be useful I see people hear selling home made g.c. pretty affordable.well I guess in time you have to try all of them.but just one at a time. Just opened the saeco box looks like new but alignment pins need to be set in more and I have been studying old mold matinnace on the sight. Well now to explain the new gun to my wife it just makes sense got the mold. So glad she started shooting she is starting to understand the love of it.Thanks to all open to suggestions.

http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/product_info.php?cPath=35&products_id=47 This is the mould I use and I shoot this bullet out of my Ruger GP100 with 6" barrel just fine. I have no accuracy issues. I also fire the same round out of my Rossi model 92 lever action rifle with good results. I use accurate #9, but don't remember the charge at the moment. I have also shot this same bullet without gas checks with no issues.

Need to answer the most important question first...What do you intend to do with the gun? Answer this and it will help you decide on the mold or molds that you need. Hunting requires a different bullet than target shooting and plinking.

That's a nice looking bullet right betwne 150 and 170 big lube grove plenty of the back in the rifleing with long or short crimp grooves. But I'm shopping in the less expensive mold market for fun I'm not a very good shot with a pistol ,but since I started casting I am getting better.

The Saeco 180gr RNFP can be had in either GC form or plain base. It shoot wonderfull out of 2 Security Sixes and a Puma lever. Of course check NOE he always has some molds ready to ship and can make a 4 cavity mold with 2GC and 2 plain base..

The RCBS 150kt and the Lyman 358477 are nearly identical and will both shoot extremely well in either 38 special or 357 mag cases. The 358477 is my favorite semiwadcutter boolit for 38. I have shot a ton of them and they shoot beautifully in all my 358 caliber revolvers.
The 358429 and the 358156 both need to be pushed fairly hard to stabilize enough for longer ranges. In a 38 special +P or 357 mag load they work really well.

My offer on a old r.c.b.s. 150 kt was excepted so I think I will start with it for the second one . I haven't received the gun yet.but I did try out the saeco 148 wad cutter.pins had to be set in a touch but got it going and cast a few. It has been a long time since I shot my own revolver looking forward to it .lent a buddy my 44 single action and gave my younger brother my dubbel.
