What material is this bullet made of? It was very hard. I thought it was a TMJ so I hit it with a hammer so the lead could be melted out, but there was no lead...

Looks like solid copper. There are a few out there.

Does solid copper fracture? I have seen it bend, stretch and pull but never fracture. I have seen bullets like that before, by the way.

that is a frangible bullet. i recognize the tip pattern. I believe they were called "sinterfire" or something similar. Sintered powdered iron-copper or something similar.
