I am looking to find a 32 HR barrel for a Handi Rifle. Looking for a rifle to go with my Ruger Single Seven. Anyone know if this is being produced?

You may want to search the forum as I know this has been discussed within the last year. The cost of custom H&R barrels is fairly high.

You'll probably have to use a stub barrel setup for this. Unless you do it yourself, it will be expensive, like seaboltm said. Check over at Graybeard's

Runs about $450 for a quality stub job. Member here, Assassin, owns D&T custom gun works. His work is phenomenal. He can do trigger jobs on the handi also. Not to mention he seems like a really down to earth nice guy.

There's tons of info on another forum that has a handi cult following. Just browse around, they're hard to miss.

I hope the soon-to-be owner posts a detailed range report.

Got one in the works for self. I ended up with a box of 28 gauge brass shells and did a little reverse engineering, found the brass would hold a bullet that is .590" diameter so made a barrel with a .590 groove diameter. Got an old 12 gauge action of unknown brand that should work fine. Case will probably hold 100 grains of black but I will most likely start a little lower. Be like shooting a 58 caliber front stuffer except a little faster to load.
Just finished a barrel in 257 Roberts for an H&R, out being blued now.

John I bought a almost NIB Handi in .28gauge. All I could think of for a reason to buy, was for using it with roundballs. But the more I shoot it with shot, the more I am impressed with #6 shot

Might be as cheap to have a .22 Hornet rebored. That is what I did about 30 years ago.

I also would like to hear how the .32 ACP turns out. Hope the owner will let us know. I have a .32 H&R Magnum but the .32 ACP should be about perfect for a small game gun for squirrels, rabbits, and small pests.

I experimented with a .32 ACP which John did for me on the tiny pre-WW2. 44/.410 frame, but then had him run the chamber out to .32 S&W Long, which I like much better.

Accurate 31-114D with 2.5 grains of Bullseye gets 947 fps from 20" barrel and shoots inch groups or less at 25 yards with iron sights. Same load in 2" Colt Detective Special is 746 fps, and in my 4" Colt Police Positive 795 fps.
Same bullet with 5.6 grains of Alliant #2400 is 1083 fps in 20" rifle, 765 fps in 2" revolver, 811 in 4".
Same bullet with 6.3 grains of Alliant #2400 is 1205 fps in 20" rifle, 820 fps in 2" revolver, 849 in 4".

I just picked up a couple H&R's in 30-30, now to figure out what to do with them. I already have a 32 ACP in the works for self ( Remington bolt action been on the shelf for about 3 years). Thinking a 38 special would be fun, already got a 44-40 single shot. Maybe 45 ACP or long Colt, just to many choices.

I did one in .32 H&R Mag. using the barrel stubbing method several years ago. It is a pretty straightforward process with a lathe and mill. So far I've done the stubbing process to make them in .32 H&R Mag., .357 Mag., .44 Mag., .45 Colt, .45 ACP, and .38-55. The best thing about the .32 H&R Mag. one is that it fires .32 S&W Long also, and can be loaded to whatever level you want within reason. It shoots well with both and definitely likes cast bullets over jacketed, and that suits me just fine as my Ruger Super Single Six in .32 Mag. likes the same cast bullet loads.

Hope you get the barrel you want soon. They are fun and cheap to feed!

If ya got a Hornet...sell it to me.

Another option to barrel stubbing might be to take a barrel blank and turn it down to be able to slide it into a 12 or 20 gauge Handi barrel. I believe some guys discussed doing this on the go2gbo forum, but I can't find the thread any more. I believe their plan was to either thread the insert in, weld it, or apply some sort of adhesive.

Interesting read here;

I've been intrigued with this idea a long time and now have a Savage 219 with a ruined barrel I want to have lined to .32 S&W, just gotta get the funds together and a few other things sorted out.

John, I gotta tell y a, I have a 24" 38 Sp and an 18" 45ACP barrel for my Contender Carbine. The 45ACP is the most fun you can have with your boots on. The 38 is a close 2nd.
