Decided last week to acquire a Blackhawk convertable 357/9MM after researching all the posts on the topic here. Immediately discovered that nobody I could find in North Texas had one or could get one. Finally found one (6.5" blued) at Tooele Shooting Supply, Tooele UT and after talking to the owner Chad Smith late Wed, 29 July, placed an order.... $519 w/$9.95 shipping. Picked up the weapon at my LGS on Sat morn, 1 Aug....super service! Ser# indicates 2015 manufacture and there is no internal lock.

Just got back from the range today. I did not slug the bore nor attempt to measure the throats. I did test to see that my 357/38Spl and 9MM boolits sized .358 would push thru the throats of both cylinders with firm!!! pressure just as they do with firm!!!! pressure in my Ruger Security Six. Shot a box of 50 ea. Lyman 356402 (sized .358) over WSF 4.2 gr. first thinking if there was going to be a problem I'd see it in 9MM. There was zero leading in the throats or barrel and I could keep them in the X ring of a B27 at 7 yds. Ditto with 9MM for Lyman 358242 (120 gr) sized .358 over Blue Dot 6.0 gr. Same story with .357 (sized .358) using different loads with Lyman 358477, 358156, 358495, and 358242 (120 gr). The weapon really shined with 38 Spl, again 358477, 358156 and 358495 were excellent but 358242 over Promo 4.2 gr would consistently group under a quarter. I also find that 358242 (120 gr) over Promo 4.2 gr. in 38 Spl is super accurate in both Marlin and H&R rifles.

I found the POI consistent with all loads used at 7 yds. The trigger is clean and crisp but heavier than my Security Six. I believe I will invest $8 in a Wolff 40 oz trigger spring. Bottom line, I'm a happy camper.

Good for you , some day I'm getting a 45colt/45acp convertible. Till then my Redhawks and GP100 will have to do. LOL

Sounds like you got a good one! I like the 30oz. spring personally. It doesn't affect the mainspring but it lets me hold the sights perfectly motionless in dry fire and that's important with a SA revolver.

did you have any problems chambering the 9mm's after a few cylinders full?

I fired more than 100 rds of 9MM and had no issues. 9MM was boreingly accurate and I wanted to see what 357 and 38 Spl would do. It was over 100 degrees or I would have stayed longer.

Probably should add that for 9MM I load Lyman 356402 to the Lyman spec of 1.110 and 358242 (120 gr) to the Lyman spec of 1.065. This worked fine for the Blackhawk as it does for my CZ 75b, BHP, G17 and G22 w/Lone Wolf barrels. I use White Label 2500+ lube for everything.

If it hadn't been so hot I had some 9MM with Lyman 356242 (90 gr.) and Lee 356-125-2R on hand that can wait for the next range trip.

I keep drooling over these, so need to get one, but life keeps getting in the way. Congrats on a fine gun!

I have been shooting mine with a Magma mold 147gr FP bullet and 3.5gr of SOLO1000. Even sized at .356, they are extremely accurate.
