As the TCM is selling, how about a cast boolet for same.
A flat point of about 75% , a nose length similar to the 22 mag bullet[with crimp grove]
and an OAL down to the base of the neck.
45 2.1 could you draw this up? Also make it tumble,Hytec, or powder lube-able as speeds are over 2000fps in pistol and 2500 fps in rifle.\?

Noe makes a nice 37grn bullet mold that may be ideal, as well as a 45grn.

I have this one and it would work.
Its lighter then the factory bullet but the profile functions in the 1911 pistol.
I haven't done anything except make a few dummies up to verify function in pistol (hand cycle)

This bullet, both GCed and PB works very well in my TCM. It shoots better than the factory ammo but I haven't had the time to really try to work up a load for accuracy. I modified a 221 Lee FCD for crimping and it works very well. This gun is entirely too much fun to shoot and I don't even really care for the 1911 platform that much, but with the double stack grip and an arched main spring housing it works OK for me.

Do you tumble lube or coat?
How hard do you drive it.
I though it would give better performance on larger critters than the factory 22mag bullet.
Does anyone commercial cast this? To try before I buy... LOL
PS. Have you been on the 22tcm web sight?

Has anyone tried the Lee 55gr mold?

I am coating mine with Hytek.
It is a gas check mold but I don't intend to gas check them.

I am planning on doing cast for my subsonics and jacketed for supers.
this is only because I have 10K jacketed bullets.
I will do some supers using the cast boolit just to get some data

NV, I think you would have to really seat it deep in order to cycle it in the 1911.
If you shot it in the rifle you would have to do it single shot.

Good info on the mould, it'll come in handy for me. Ever since I sold off the 10/22 I miss having a small critter-getter-ridder on the ranch. Giving some serious thought to the bolt rifle they have and using nothing but downcharged cast boolits in it....

I guess I just don't see much purpose in it in a rifle (at least for me). It doesn't do anything that I can't already do by varying a load in a .223.

I don't own a 223 bolt gun and with the AR you are limited on how slow you can go without turning it into a single shot pain in the *** gun
I thing I like about it is that I can use 223 cases that are damaged.

Except that you can fit 18 in a doublestack 5" 1911 and still get 2000fps.

He was talking about a rifle in 22 TCM not the pistol.

My rifle using my loads (I don't call them reloads cause its all new unfired material right now) does 2700 FPS. Out of the pistol its a little over 2000.

In the pistol 2.5 grains of unique puts it at around 1050 fps. Doesn't cycle the gun and is smokey.. just a FYI

I was just talking about the rifle. I definitely want to get one of the doublestack 5" M1911s in the .22 TCM / 9mm combo though. I also want to rechamber the 9x19 barrel for 9x23.

I would call it more of an AR bolt action with a really crappy bolt design. :) But, I have a .223 barrel for my Thompson Encore rifle, so I can go as slow as I want with .223. :)

Yeah, the ability to reuse damaged cases is a definite advantage. Damaged .223 gets gut down and made into .300 AAC. Damaged .300 AAC gets cut down and made into .22 TCM. And I guess you could convert a damaged neck .22 TCM to 9x19 if you were so inclined.

That was my plan. Chop 223 to 300bo then chop 300bo to 22tcm

And if you come across any 5.56 blanks in a government auction, they are perfect to cut down to .330 AAC and subseqently to .22 TCM.
