I've found a replacement handle for my RCBS press.
When I first started extruding lead and derimming 22 brass, I was advised that I would benefit from the use of an extended handle to increase leverage on my RCBS press. After contacting RCBS and failing to find one. I struggled for over a year, and not having the ability to make my own, I searched until I found someone that could. Kyle623 helped me out.
His handle looks like the original offering from RCBS with the exception of longer length and the ergonomic bend.
I have found this handle (I've dubbed the XLR(extreme leverage replacement)handle, RCBS modle) has reduced the required effort by approximately 50% or more to accomplish these tasks, while also reducing the time required to accomplish them. Shorter sessions, greater production, less effort.
My artificial shoulder THANKS kyle623.

A picture of the press would be nice. I'd like to see it myself.

That would also be nice for me as I have an imitation swagin' arm as well.

Do you know, is it hardened or just threaded and bent? If it is not hardened it should not be to hard to find someone with a lather to turn down some bar stock.

I'm not sure, what type of metal it is made from. I was hoping Kyle would jump in and answer. I do know that it was heated and then bent. I believe the bend was 16-18*. So far press and handle has withstood swaging .223,44,45 caliber projectiles, and extruding boolits into .188 wire.
I may still get a sore shoulder (due to replacement), but it sure has HELPED increase my inventory. Greg<huntnman

Is there any problem with doing this?,I'm asking because I'm about to start swaging with my RC and don't want to damage it by over taxing it with a longer handle. Pat

There shouldn't be, just don't animal it. My 6" over stock works fine. Others have been using extended handles successfully. I am using Lafauns die but be careful, when the stroke is through don't over pressure it. I did and mushroomed the punch, no damage just a little file work and polish and it works fine.

Thoughts on a section of steel pipe over handle to add leverage? :redneck:

I've had Kyle do all of my recent handles.

I believe that he makes them in 1018 steel. They are not hardened, nor do they need to be. They are plenty strong and durable, as-is.

Taylor, I tried a section of aluminum softball bat handle as a temporary extension, and found that it kept coming loose. You do not want to have the handle spinning in your hand. And, you want a nice round end on the handle to prevent BLISTERS.

Kyle will make you any handle you need. Just send him a PM with your request.
