For you gents that's been here and done that. I'm looking for a light weight design for my Winchester with standard rifling. Trying to get 7mm trajectory out of the 44:bigsmyl2:, if you know what I mean. I've got a good plinker which is the Lee 200rf. Now I'm looking for a gas checked version of a light weight, to run at the upper velocities of the 44mags capibility, all while staying accurate out to hopefully 200yds. NOE has a GB going right now on the remake of the lyman devistator, which I think is a bit heavy for what I'm wanting, but what I'm looking for in a design. I really feel that a 200 to 235 gr would be more capible of my desired wants of velocity but may need something heavier like the devistator for accuracy out to 200.

Interested to see what comes up here. My 94AE .44 Trapper seems to hate cast bullets, it spits 'em everywhere like watermelon seeds. It does very well with jacketed flat base bullets though, even better with concave base Silvertips.

I have a 6C Lee .44-225 RNFP custom plain base mold that I bought used, from a board member here a few years ago. It works great sized to .431 and Bhn 11, in my Winnie Trapper AE with 8.6g of Green Dot and WLP primers. OAL is 1.650. 1250fps and SD of 12. The 5 shot groups it shoots are 1.5" at 50 meters. I don't know if any others have had any luck with this mould, but I love it and would buy another if I could.

Be certain you slug the bore; mine measured .432".

Had to rebarrel my trapper .44 before it would perform. The Win barrel was so big I swear my shotgun put down a better pattern. Now I shoot a 215 gr. Lyman that does pretty good. All in all, it wasn't worth the expense to rebarrel the rifle, but I really like this Winchester. Now I have just what I want, and that alone pleases me. No dovetails cut in the barrel. Front ramp sight and no rear sight on the barrel. Have a receiver sight / peep that works wonderfully. Had feed problems with the basic 240 SWC boolit. This 215 gr. Lyman works every time.

I'm going to be running this in my '92. Its a closed buy now, but I just received mine today, so he may still have a few extra for sale.

I ordered the same mould to try in several of my .44 mags. Mine will be a 4C with cup points. I sent payment via PayPal on 7/24 and am anxiously awaiting the mould.

Has anyone tried the Accurate 165tc gc? it's a short light weight, so I'm thinking it maybe to lite for accuracy at any distance more than 25yds.

I see alot of good post about that lyman 215 on this and other threads. Lyman #4 shows a max charge velocity maxing out about 2000fps with it. Has anyone pushed it hard with accuracy?

429215 cast of COWW + 2% tin AC'd, sized .430 , lubed with 50/50 and loaded over Bluedot, 2400 or H110 shot quite well in a M94 Trapper and AE carbine I had.

Have a look at the Ranch Dog (RD) designs at the NOE web sight.

As I have Winchester 94 (1976) in .44mag I would like to know how much past revolver loads can you load the Winnie? I suppose that the Winchester can handle much more powerful loads than a revolver with thin cylinder walls?

nope.
the gun is based on the 30-30 cartridge.
the 44 mag is already at magnum pressures more ain't more.

my trapper needs larger diameter boolits too, big enough that I just bought a swaging set-up for the 44 [sold the 45 colt] and make jacketed bullets for it.
I use cast in my 92 clones.

30-30 max breech pressure 42,000psi versus .44 mag 36,000psi?

Larry, that's the same boolit, with 2400 powder, that I used in my Trapper model 94 for about 15 years. I spent many a pleasant afternoon at my club range plinking clay pigeon fragments at 100 yards with that gun. I ended up giving it to a friend who had done me a favor and who liked that Trapper. The EMF model 92 rifle that I replaced it with was not nearly as accurate. The 429215 boolit is a great one, often overlooked by those who feel a need for as heavy a boolit as they can find a mold for.

I have the same rifle and the bore is .432 in diameter. I use a group buy 434-207-RF or an old Ideal 429434 that throws a .433 230gr bullet. Bullets heavier than 230 grains or smaller in diameter than .432 simply will not shoot in my rifle. You are probably looking at a custom mold to get that winchester to work. By the way, my winchester likes the bullets going as fast as I can push them.
