I got some .22 cal cast boolits in a scrap deal some time ago and there was a 5/8" x 1/8" disk and weighs 5.33 grams which I thought to be tin, but it would not melt at lead temperature. So I was at a scrap yard yesterday getting some of my alloys scanned with the XrF gun and had them scan the 5/8" disk and it turned out to be 98.3% Ag and 1.97% Cd.

Now I wonder if all of the .22 cal boolits that the disk were with are made of this.

Be cautions of that 2% Cd. It can be potentially hazardous.

5 grams of silver is not a lot, but worth more than lead these days.

Spot is $14.88 per TROY OUNCE.

98.3% Ag and 1.97% Cd Both are good hardners for Pb but really be careful of Cd fumes. As maettallic it is probably as safe as lead.

Hey... I love them cadmium-bury eggs. I only get them at Easter, but they're tasty. Can't be good for your teeth, but delicious...
