Good morning
Have a 1895 Winchester in 30-40 that has a "poor bore" . Been thinking about sending it to JES to rebore to 405 Winchester.
Anyone here accomplished this transformation ? Am I looking at more headaches than it is worth heading into ? Are there feed issues that that I should understand ?
Thank you for any input you can help with.

JES would be your best and most accurate source of information about that.

I don't think there is enough barrel open the bore up that much.

38-72 might work. That is an original chambering for that rifle, and it can be formed from .405 hornady brass.

Good morning
JES list this as a Rebore job he will do. So far all the work I have had him do is correct and safe. I would call him but I am in Peru right now and I doubt he would want to return the call.
A member here wrote some where some time ago about having a converted 1895 to caliber .405. I have done numerous searches with all the combinations I can think of wading through many posts. So I decided to try open advertising to maybe learn some details.
