Finally got a chance to get out shooting a few days ago. A little windy but a fairly steady wind, I excited to get out on a calm down. When I was out I tried out my relatively new 6.5 mm VLD bullets with the rebated boat tail in my 260 REM
I only loaded 10 rounds, took me a few shots to get on the paper but once on the paper the 3 shot groups were very nice
Here is at 100 yards

and 200 yards

I loaded up 10 Hornady A-max and the group sizes were twice as large! These are the only loads I have done for my 6.5 so I am curious how things will pain out.

What weight was you bullets? What jacket? J4?

I got a few 6.5x55s I'll be trying out soon.

The jackets were RCE 30 cal drawn initially to 7mm and than to 6.5 mm.

Bullet was 139 grain, I didn't get a chance to use my lead tip dies but used them as is as

I didn't record the OAL of the jackets as I was more excited to try one out. I know in bullet making repeatability is key, hopefully I can replicate these results. Worst case scenario I shoot a lot trying to duplicate or do better.

I do have a bucket of j4 jackets but am too tight to shoot them right now. I will be ordering some RCE 6.5 jackets ones as he has them on sale for $70 per k.
