I;m needing a generic 32-20 bullet to use in six guns and levers. Leaning towards the Accurate Mold 31-112L, which is based on the Lyman 311316. http://accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=31-112L-D.png

Is this a bullet that is likely to feed and work OK in a lever gun? Is Anyone using this bullet in a lever rifle?

It should be fine. Lyman 311316 works fine in my lever and pump rifles (Win 92 & Rem 25). Fine in pistols too, although you may not need a gas check at pistol velocities, unless you are stoking a Ruger to max. Bullet has about the same profile as most others for 32/20.

I sold my 311008 and 311316 and replaced them with a 5 cavity NOE 314008 (2 x PB, 2 x GC, 1 x GCHP). AWESOME mould and the extra girth makes it shoot sweet.

My " old 'n' tired " Marlin 94 ( 1901 dob) needed a bigger dia so I asked Tom at Accurate to cut it to .315" and it's just right , although, as CuzinBruce mentions the g/c isn't needed for my loadings.

Off to Erik @ hollowpoint for a little bottom surgery.

Great little boolit though,,,,,

Hi!
Currently showing this NOE mold is sold out (NOE 314008). I have sent a PM to Swede Nelson at NOE and ask if this mold will rerun.

He does re-run it on a regular basis. If you'll join his forum and convince a few other folks to sign up for one he'll put it on his schedule and give you a discount to boot. And yes, I already have mine! Awesome little boolit and it even carries enough lube for BP.

jethunter, I have the NOE copy of Lyman 311316 and it is a great boolit, especially for my Marlin 1894. This boolit also works very well as a light load in 303 Brit for me. If I was wanting an "all around" 32-20 boolit I would look at a copy of Lyman's old standard, the 311008. NOE makes a copy of this as well, in multi-cavity too. I love the way my 314008 shoots out of the Marlin. It ends up being pretty heavy (125 gr.+) but this boolit shoots so well over a charge of IMR 4198 that I just LOVE it. No gas-check to worry about and it flat out anchors rabbits and grouse. The same 314008 also shoots quite well out of the Ruger Buckeye with 2400 as a propellant and sized down to .312. JW Forgot to say that my NOE copy of the 311316 feeds very well thru my Marlin. I see no reason why Accurate's rendition would not do as well. JW

A timely discussion for me. I'm getting a model 1889 Marlin in .32-20. After I slug the bore I'll be looking for a mold for it. The NOE 314008 is on my short list.

I tried 2 bullets in my 32-20. I already had the Lee 30 cal 120 mold I tried for a wimp load in my 30-30's. Used as cast without a gas check it works very well in my 1894 Marlin CL. I do not load much over 1300 fps. I also tried the Lee 32 cal pistol mold and it works also but I seem to use the 120 grain the most. I also treat them with the Lee Liquid Alox. The bore slugged at about .311. For anything larger other molds would likely be better.

My browning 53 dotes on the RCBS 32-98-SWC over 5.0 Unique. It also shoots the 311-316 very well. My 311-008 doesn't do quite as well, as it casts about .311 and the Browning likes a smidge bigger boolit.

I love my 32/20s and shoot both of the Lyman's designs with excellent accuracy. I would also recommend the Hornady HBWC. It shoots great in my Marlin CL and Colt OP. I sometimes get .5" @ 50yrs from the rifle. I really like 1680 for the GC load. Did I mention I love the 32/20?

Thanks for all the replies, the good info made it easier to decide. I'm going to order the Accurate 31-112L mold in .315" diameter and likely get one of the NOE pb molds later on.

Good morning
I shoot 32-20 in a 1873, a Savage bolt rifle and a Dan Wesson revolver. 115 grain boolits meet my needs in all three. A flat nose design is far more practical in hunting. Round nose designs will pass through ground hogs and similar critters with little effect unless you can head shoot or bust the shoulders. Flat nose types made of reasonable soft mixes dump a lot of energy fast. Much lighter bullets may not penetrate deeply.

I shoot an old Lyman design 3118 pb in my 32-20 Win Md 43 and find minute of squirrel accuracy out to 50-60 yds. Have an old friend who uses the Lyman 311316 both with and without the gc in a martini conversion and he finds about the same results, 3/4-1.0 at 50-60 yds.
