First I had this one made up...pretty big but it worked OK.

Then I got this idea in my head and drew up design and sent it off to Kenjuudo in Indiana, he came through making the top box spring affair.

It set's at-top my custom made swaging die in .432 diameter...but have two other swaging die bodies just like it in .430 and .454 dia.

The ejector tips on the rising rod stems are a screw on & off affair, that way the top box spring apparatus is interchangeable with all my lower units by merely changing out the ejector tips.

Still in the process of sizing and shaping different type of cast bullets, and so far everything is coming up roses...it is working great.

The nice thing about this device you pull the handle, the bullet goes up into the swage die, the spring pushes the bullet out of the die back on top of the nose punch as soon as you put the handle lever back in the up position.

Thanks to Kenjuudo this idea has become a reality.

That is a sweet idea there. Much more compact and better looking to boot.

Good job, I had drawn one(ejector) on the same principle last week. DALE

BTW, the lower swage die body are custom made up for me, they are not factory made.

My original drawing of this device was made up several months ago, but have had the working proto-type for a little over a week.

You have to be a swaging nut to go to this much trouble.

Hi Jim
Those are really cool ideas. I alway's thought it was pretty lame that I had to wack the bullets back out with a mallet. The top-most bar and rod setup looks like something I could make myself. Do you have any suggestions on how to fit the bottom bar onto a stock RCBS ram? Here's a pic of my swaging setup.
Thanks, Michael

Hi Michael.

If you are not a machinist, you'll have to take the press apart to get the ram out. It will require some measuring and fitting of a coller that can slide over the top of the ram where the shell holder is.

The bottom flat plate in my top picture is tack welded to the coller. The coller plate should have a big enough hole to allow the shell holder to fit through it.

If it were me and a Rock Chucker, I'd order another ram from RCBS and shorten it's length about 1/2 inch. You'll need that if you expect to have a top out break free point in the ram's upward movement in the swage die.

You'll have to decide if the top gets lopped off, or the bottom...I've never done an RCBS press.

But if you buy another ram you won't ruin the original one.

Looking at your RC I don't see a linkage bar on the toggle apparatus, so the ram is the only thing you alter.

I'll take some more pictures of my set ups and post them a bit later...if that will help you.

Maybe you should contact me by email.

This the Lee Classic Press with automatic bullet ejector, but the idea can utilized in other models and makes like RCBS if you've got the money and a good machinist.

The swage die in the picture is a Lee 30/30 seating die, made an ejector stem and top bolt with stem hole so it could rise and lower at will. The die has a bore of around .432 or .433 diameter.
