I have range scrap ingots that measure 9.5 - 10 Brinell and I want to raise the alloy hardness to 12 Brinell. Using RotoMetals Super Hard bars what percentage of the bars do I add to the range scrap?

for every 1% SB you add the BHN goes up .9BHN.this is per the rotometals site.so it sounds like about 2% SB will do the job.

You need to add something in the ballpark of 1 lb of super hard to every 10 lbs of range lead.
That'll get you a mix around 12 bhn.

Download the alloy calculator in my signature and adjust the mix as needed.

have you just tried what you have?
it's rare I see 1-2 bhn make all that much difference.

now from 10 to 15 or 15 to 20, that can make a difference in accuracy.

Yes! Download Bumpo's alloy calc and all your questions will be answered like magic! I use it all the time for "what if" questions.

+1 on alloy calculator as best way to figure out what you'll get from what you got.
