Was driving through Wolf Creek MT today and decided (on a whim) to take the old highway instead of blowing through town on I-15 as usual. I saw a pile of stuff in the yard with "FREE" signs one of the things was an old BBQ, with the propane tank:shock:, I detached the tank and it still was half full :bigsmyl2:so it went into my trunk. Nobody home so no one to thank:-|, I'll stop next time and leave a card or something.
yes it's the old style valve, but free propane is always nice. If it's upgradeable when I empty it I'll have a spare, finally. If not I have the makings for my new smelting pot to go with the free turkey fryer I got in Sand Coulee last summer:bigsmyl2:

Free is cool. I kinda like to dig for useable junk myself!

Use the exchange at your local store to upgrade your valve.

I was speaking to the guy at our local hardware/garden supply place when I noticed a bunch of propane tanks next to the filling station. He told me they were the old style and folks had to pay $5 to leave them for disposal. Told him I was just gonna make a smelting tank out if it and he told me to take as many as I wanted. For free. Took four; two were made into smelting pots and I exchanged the other two at exchange. Worked for me [smilie=w:

A Friend of mine says "Free means you don't pay". I don't know if he was the first to say it but he was the first that I remember. Most Casters are pretty good scroungers!:?
