On a lot of things,,,,,

OTOH, the SB Heavy ten is considered to be a good gunsmithing lathe and that one "appears" to be in good shape,

A 1 3/8" spindle through hole is not large enough for a lot of barrel blanks but for a lathe that size it's not real bad either, another plus is the wedge type QCTH and the motor conversion and the included factory cabinet/base, if there is no appreciable wear on the ways and the spindle bearings are good then this looks like it could be one of those rare finds we occasionally hear about. He didn't mention much in the way of tooling but then he didn't mention a lot of money either!

Buy a lathe for the same money as a stinking AR?
Hannibal, do you regret your purchase, can you reclaim your loss?

If I were a hobby machinist? Absolutely not. I'm trying to learn far more here. In the age of 50K pick-ups, I feel pretty good about it. YMMV.

It's just a few miles from me. I had the lathe itch a few years ago but I don't have a teacher where I live now to show me the ropes. I have a couple friends that are machinists but they live to far away to be of much help.
