I just noticed that Midsouth shooter supply had CFE pistol in stock. There isn't too much info out there about it. The hodgdon website has some impressive velocities in a 45 acp. I hope they aren't too optimistic. I got some to try.

A friend loves it out of his Thompson, but he uses j words.

How "clean" does it burn in .45 ACP with those FMJ's? I'm curious too. Have a pound and haven't tried it yet. Still working on my new reloading room, but am anxious to give it a try. Anyone know if it needs a heavier than std. spring in 1911's with those elevated velocities with a 200 gr. SWC? Odd, isn't it, how it's designed for J-bullet coppering, and then goes and outdoes everything else according to Hodgdon's Annual Manual with lead?

I've used up almost a pound in my 9mm. I like it a lot. But as I have about 20 pounds of other powder, it will be a while before I buy more:'(
Hodgson annual had a good bit of data for it for Various calibers.

I've used it in 9, 40, 41 mag and 45 acp. Clean and works well with lead. My friend has had good luck with the FN 5.7x28

I use tightgroup as a comparison, and CFE burns just noticeably cleaner IMO.

I have been using it in 9mm, 40S&W, and 38 special with cast boolits. It burns clean for me.
Using my chronograph, and the powder charges listed on the Hodgdon data site, I got nearly the exact velocities they listed in all three cartridges. This is the first time that has ever happened for me.

Picked some up because it was only $20/pound, when I bought a Commander in .45 ACP about 18 months ago. Interestingly, Hogdon sells it as copper remover/reducer, but have a fair amount of data for cast on their website. Has worked well for me in .45 ACP, .38 Super, and 9x19.

I use it in .40 with plated bullets. It meters good and is clean stuff. The only thing I don't like is that loads require more powder than other powders do. For .40 I use 6.9 grains where other powders you can use about 5

I've loaded 40SW plated with it but not shot yet. Supposed to be 'low flash' also.
