Very nice, but a gun like that ALWAYS needs a nice set of figured walnut grips. Kind'a like the cherry on top of an ice cream soda. Very good work!

Grips are up to the customer. I'm done once it's blued

Too bad we can't get those Millett rear sights any more. Have one on a Bisley Blackhawk and still have one in the box as shown. Nice sixgun by the way.

That GP looks great with a ventilated rib.

Nice looking Cougar.

I always wanted a Smolt. Never found a good Python barrel although I had a couple S&W K frames as candidates for the project.

Nice job. I wonder if the bluing will come out as deep as a Python. That would be a feat!

Looks great. In what ways is the Ruger frame superior to Colt frame? Or, is it that the Colt barrel is superior to the Ruger barrel?

It's a security six. And I think it's mainly about looks. Numerich has take off barrels

Not a GP?

If it was anything like my last 2 Security Sixes, the Python barrel HAD to be an improvement. I loved the feel of the Ruger frame but the accuracy lacked something to be desired. BC, that is one fine looking six gun. Now if we could just get Ruger to build a 5 shot 44 spl on the GP 100 frame......maybe with a rib...

I hope you took that "Cougar" to the vet and got it the "shots" it needs! :-)

Nice job! Looks good and I'll bet it will be a good shooter! Thanks for sharing and enjoy!

IIRC, Colt barrels were supposed to have a twist rate superior (faster than a S&W? Slower?) for use with the 38 wadcutters used in PPC shooting.

1/14 twist

That's a really nice looking gun but, I got to admit that wasn't what I thought this would be about when I first read the thread title.

That's definitely an old school classic! While the Smolt (or Smython) was a little more common, the Cougar was pretty popular among the cognosceti as well. I guess there isn't as much demand for any of those sweet 38 WC guns since PPC isn't as it was into the '90s. The development of the L-frame Smiths also probably took away some of their allure. I'm glad to see that the old ideas are remaining alive for some of the most enthusiastic.
