Finally got to my neck turning tool project. Turned out ok and works great.

Uses standard 1/2" square carbide cutting tips. Used a pin gauge for guide pin.

Not the prettiest but not bad limited to a drill press and hand tools.

I notice the guide pin is held by a set screw........can it be changed out for different sized case necks?

Yup, pin can be swapped out. I used a large set screw that will hold and center various size pins.
This is a first attempt. In the next version I'm going to cut a v slot so any size pins will center correctly.

I know, it's been over 2 years.

How has it worked so far?

Has there been a version 2 yet?

This is the only post I have found on the net where someone made one.

I have a bunch of HSS tool bit blanks and some 1" X 2-1/2" aluminum bar stock so will be giving it a try.

I figure to polish .001 off the O.D. of some 29/64 drill rod for the .451 pilot and using the drill itself to make the pilot bushing hole.

A square notch in the side should work for the tool steel to fit into.
