Couldn't find a specific forum where this fit exactly so it can be moved if necessary. TIA

Well like it says up top what to do with Magnum large rifle primers when I don't shoot anything larger than the '06 in rifles?

Ideas?

Trade them for what you can use.

If you are using ball powder, that's what they were for. It doesn't mean they have to be used in a belted magnum. I use them in everything, using surplus military ball powder.

I use only those in my 300Win mag loads. Up here it's cold/cooler than most folks realize, and they work real well.

Check your reloading manuals carefully, a number of the slower burning extruded, and most of the ball powders in 30-06 require mag primers for complete ignition.

Yep, I use then in the 35 Remington with H335, so it's more the powder than the case it's in.

Thanks guys. I've got 6K Winchester (old red/orange and white box). I currently don't think I have a ball type powder for the '06.

Reduce your 30-06 load to starting levels, substitute your magnum for standard primers, and work up a load from there...

I believe you are missing the obvious solution. You need to buy another rifle.

Now that is the best one yet!

the old ww were a bit milder then cci or feds so id say back off a grain on your favorite o6 load and shoot the snot out of them. When I first started loading back before there was internet help I allways figured a mag primer was a benefit to my hunting loads for a bit more speed and reliability in cold weather and used them in all of my rifles from 243 on up. Still use them in a few because the accuracy loads I found with them back then still haven't been beat with anything else ive loaded. One example is the 6mm ive been fooling with the last couple days. I gave it to my daughter and she bought a new scope so ive been shooting it and loaded up some ammo. Load is with 4350 and a cci mag primer and shoots 1/2 inch at a 100 yards. Switch primers and the load doubles in size. So you never know.
