A Woman Shot of Ability

Through the kindness of some of our friends we are enabled to reproduce herewith a photograph of Mrs. J. Patterson, the helpmeet of Mr. J. Patterson. secretary of the Engineers’ Rifle and Revolver Club of Cleveland, Ohio. Concerning the latter we might interpolate the remark that he is one of those busy bees

in the shooting game who is always buzzing around doing things to help his club and the game generally. In fact he is a live wire and sparking all the time.

With the photograph of Mrs. Patterson we show a target representing a score of 99 out of 100 on December 15, shot off-hand, at 25 yards, with an ordinary sporting rifle equipped with telescope sight and shooting Peters .22 long rifle semi-smokeless cartridges. This little lady is an enthusiast concerning rifle shooting and takes her place regularly

on the firing line at the range with the men. When she occasionally pulls a few 9's it does not discourage her from further efforts to keep them all in the 10 ring, but she keeps constantly plugging away with as much or more persistence than the average man.

ARMS AND THE MAN would be glad to hear from any like performance by women shooters. W'e ask any man if he would be proud to place ten shots in such a group as here represented at the distance under the conditions named.

Last month at the ND/SD Cowboy Action Shooting state championship, there were two full days on long range shooting competitions. There were three categories and ranges of 100 to 685 yards. Woman made up about 1/5 of the entries. In the two days there were seven perfect scores shot and four of them were shot by woman!!
