I have a Lee Loader, complete except for instructions. It is in the plastic box, with a sticker-Gordon's Sporting Goods, $15.98. The dipper is 3.7cc., set appears unused. The only I D marking on the die is 7mm. But which 7mm?

My calculations using 3.7cc divided by VMD factor gives average charges for 7X57 Mauser. The explanation for VMD's and the formula, as well as a list of VMD's can be found at the link below. The Lee Loader only neck sizes and I think one can download instructions at the Lee sight as well. It may take some time to find them, but I would imagine they are there.

If it is not a fat case belted case it cannot be a 7mm Rem mag or a 7mm WBY.
That only leaves the 7X57 and .284 Win. The .284 Win is also a fat case with no belt.

There were 7mm Express Rem for a while but I don't think Lee ever made those - it is the same as a .280 Remington.

I think it is a belted case. Diameter is .528 for .224 then reduces to .512. Checking the cartridge dimensions in Lee's 2d Edition, I'm betting 7mm Remington Magnum. Some of the differences are probably due to my technique.
Thanks

I only have two sets of Lee Loaders - 38 spec. and 32-20 . . . I've always wondered . . . why are they not marked as far as caliber? I'd have to go pull mine output I don't think either are marked other than the paperwork that came with them?

Bill - hope you get it figured out. I have passed some up over the years just because there was no paperwork with him or they weren't marked.
