I just snagged me a 14" 7TCU barrel for my contender. got dies and 75 pieces of Rp 223 brass already formed with it too. I cant wait to load it up and shoot it. The barrel is badly fowled up and I have been working at cleaning it which has not went to well yet but I am getting progressively stronger with my cleaning solvents. Hope to have a nice and clean and shiney bore for Friday as I have off work and will put some lead down range. Any other 7TCU shooters in here.

One fore sure ( Me ) but I am betting lots will chime in. What length of bbl? When you say fouled, I assume you are talking about the copper type? You will enjoy the caliber as it seem to be relatively forgiving as to load development, It will let you be a picky as you want , but will shoot a fair number of loads reasonably well.

I've got a 7TCU in a rifle that I use for cast boolit silhouette shooting. It's a neat little cartridge and I'm sure you will enjoy it.

I have a 14 7TCU contender .. It amazes people just how accurate it is 143904
With jacketed bullets it will cloverleaf at 100 IF I do my part and hold the gun still

Mine is an 18". It also shoots very good groups. I didn't fill my tag with it last year. But it will be carried this year also.

I have both 10" and 18" carbine barrels. Both are wonderful shooters with the 18" barrel occasionally getting groups under .8" at 100 yards with boolits (the 130 gr. Lee boolit). The carbine seems to like a velocity of around 1900 fps and the pistol about 1450 fps. I would certainly use the carbine for our local deer if I wasn't always getting a muzzleloader tag.

I have a 10" factory irons. It shoots the 130 lee and 160 Lyman very well. With boolits it like IMR 4198 , SR 4759 & just started working with RL 7 , with very good tesults.Jacketed 120 sierra ' over 3031 and 139 Hornady over H 322. Good luck.

I have a 14" bbl someone decided to make a homemade port with. I cut the bbl back to 11 3/4" and ground my own crown with a dremel bit run by hand and finished with a brass screw and valve grinding compound. It shoots better than it should. Try Juniors load using WC820 if you have some. I use a 139 gr fp bullet from a group buy.

I clean up alot of old guns that have badly fouled bore and use the following method:
Using Hoppe's #9 I do a preliminary cleaning with patch and brush. This tells me how bad it is.
Then plug the chamber and fill with #9 and let set overnight. In the morning I drain, brush, run a few patches thru it.
Using Purple Power soap I soak for 15 minutes, clean brush and run a few patches thru.
Back to the #9 and soaking.
I do very little scrubbing and more soaking. The use of the PP removes powder fouling and the #9 gets the copper.
I've had some military surplus guns that may take 3 or 4 days to get down to bare metal.

That is the soap, $13 about for 2 1/2 gallons. Cleans gun parts also, just clean, rinse, dry, oil. Cleans the garage floor, truck engine, etc.
Castrol Super Clean is similar but it tends to cause the skin to peel the next day if you don't wear gloves.
I have also degreased extremely oil soaked gun stocks with it also.

I'M not 100% sure on this ,but the think the Castrol Super Clean has some acid in it. Kind of has that smell to it and aluminum does not like it. Does funny things to the aluminum

If the castrol super clean reacts with Aluminum then it pro bably has a strong base in it. Does it make your fingers or hands slick when it gets on it? Also if it's purpose is to break down oils and or greases then it most certainly is basic not acidic. Acids do very little to break down long hydrocarbon chains.
