PID built for powder coating oven.

Been gathering 'stuff' for a oven PID. Got most of it from Evil-bay and an on-line electronics place.

Still not pleased with housing but everything fits...sort of.

First Pic: you can see it on and operational
should note this turned out to be a Cº PID--no problems; quick Google check and 400º F = 205º C. Turns out 208ºC is what I need to get 400ºF at the center of the oven (excuse the blurry pic--I'm old and have the tremors.

Pic Four: front view with top on. The SSR on its heat sink sits a bit proud of the case. Will put a plexigas cover over it; will mount with stand-offs so there is air movement.

drilled the holes with a Forstner bit. Drill most of the way through and then flip over: gives clean, sharp edges on the holes.

If you change the setting, it'll be a F° PID. :cool:

Actually the C100 is a Celsius unit only. Cheapest one on Ebay--not sure that is a good thing but as long as it works all I know is 205 or so is what I need.

the heater on my Lyman 450 is also in C so I'm used to using metric temps. Don't fully like it but can use it.

Oh, that's right, the C100 is C° only. I forgot that.
At least it works. PID's are fun! :grin:

Walter, Could the SSR possibly be mounted on it's side where the holes are drilled in the back? Then a vent panel could be added on the top for additional heat dissipation.

Looks good, I've had the same Rex PID and it quickly failed. I have 2 MyPin PID's and they've been absolutely zero trouble. The thermocouples seem to have a short life though, but they're cheap and easy to change as needed.

It's totally done and operational now

Finally got to use it for a batch of pc bullets. Been dealing with several health issues but they are behind me

It is amazing to see the temp hold right on 207ºC (which is 400ºF, it's the only number I have to worry about).
Put in a new batch, temp heads back up and locks in on 207ºC; did see it at 208ºC but came right back down in no time.

Only question now is how long the REX C100 will last. Since I'm not going all the way up to melting point of lead might make a difference...or not.

If it dies I'll let you know
