Counting the 20# in the pot my latest pour brings my working total up to 200# of ready to cast range scrap alloy. The reserve is somewhere around 400# but I need to get a more accurate weight. We just picked up a brand new 550# game scale so we'll be able to track our mining progress. Our last trip to the berm netted us an estimated 300-350# of scrap. That's going to be a full day's work turning it into ingots. We're on track to have 2000# in reserve by the end of the year.

Beware the collapse!

That's a SteelCase desk. It'll hold a helluva lot more than that. I have my 1000# lathe mounted on another one of them and its Rock solid.

Good man. I can see you have it covered, or not covered as the case may be.

My butcher block bench has a hotplate, bottom pour pot, hand tools, beeswax, sawdust, gloves, carpet remnant, a couple random ingots, aluminum and stainless steel bowls and currently two 4-cavity molds...one 38 and one 45, laying in wait for the next session.

...... and currently two 4-cavity molds...one 38 and one 45, laying in wait for the next session.

Hmm I have two 2 cavity, one 38 and one 44 laying in wait from the last session..... sensing a pattern in the mist. Or maybe that is smoke from those wheel weights not mist.

Do miss my old Steel Case desk, looking at it always reminded me of when myself, wife and daughter who was about 12 back then hauled that up stairs to a 3rd floor apartment. Eventually became a garage desk, and last move did not make the cut of stuff that was getting moved. Sort of miss it.

So all I have is just some stuff piled on a steel welding table...

143360

Under it however
143361
143362

That would be the results of a bunch of this happening on the side table.
143363

Have managed to fill the entire space under the table and have a row along the one side with about 150# of home brewed Lyman #2. Right around 1000# right now so it is time for me to start wasting my money on other projects, like painting the deck and other not nearly as interesting stuff.

You know I really really like casting. The ingots turning to puddles in the pot, skimming to a mirror finish, the stream pouring from the ladle and watching the sprue transition from shiny to dull in a wave like some high tech special effect, with the dimple forming as the lead sucks into the mold. The pile of bullets slowly growing, weighing them afterwards to see how many I made. All I can say is hotdamn this is fun, wonder why everyone doesn't do it? Are people just silly or what? That whole "operation" takes up less space than my snow blower and is a lot more fun and interesting.

Oh my you guys are organized. Right now, I set up my workmate and put 20# Lee bottom pour on it in a steel baking tray. Then I drag out sawdust, beeswax, and ingots stacked along the side of my garage. I am working on a "real" bench in little garage where I keep my 4wheeler. No air conditioning but got power and light.

my ww/tin ingots are stacked under the bench, the 4/6 alloy is to the side of the wifes master caster, the lino is in it's own smaller cubby next to the ww alloy, and there's some pure/soft lead by the Stars.

I pulled all of my reserve lead of the shelf and got an accurate weight today. 576 pounds of range scrap alloy.

Just put everything away after a casting session so it's clean. Normal items on it are a drawer set out of my work van(firearm cleaning items kept in it), box of Wypalls, box of nitrile gloves, can of CLP, can of carb cleaner can of Ballistol, sprayer of Ballistol and a zoom spout bottle of Ballistol. Only other thing on it at the moment are a single ingot of 96/2/2 that's from a previous batch I made, it's currently oxidized. And an empty ammo can because I shot up all the bullets that used to reside in it. All the lead is kept in two foot lockers and I don't talk about the quantity.

Edit:
After taking a photo I forgot about the three bins. One has some HM2 227-62 bullets in it. Another has some 300 BLK brass that's formed but needs trimming. The last one has a bag of 35-200FN clones in it that are fully dressed and ready to load. And a bag of 300 Savage brass that are primed but I forgot to anneal them so I need to remove the primers to take care of that. A box of 356 Winchester brass that I keep forgetting to put into storage. Lastly is some coffee cans and a glass Coke bottle that I found buried in one of the walls in the house. Keeping it for sentimental reasons.

You know.......the fumes from all that lead lying around........will kill you! HA.....ha.:veryconfu

I keep all my stash in chlorine tab buckets (lots of them!) in the shade outside my shed. And in a VERY rugged 5x2 foot 6 shelf steel storage rack (gotta watch that weight factor!). Most of the raw shapes are as found and sheet pure is just cut into convenient strips. Why waste fuel melting absolutely perfectly clean lead into silly little ingots? When I need more of the shapes (hard alloys), I just get out my dual cut carbide rotary saw and whack off some.

Only keep about 50# of various ingots handy around my casting area. When I need more I just go get it.

I'm not sure I trust that dragon813gt, way to neat and organized. Must be up to some sort of evil plot.

Can't help but trust someone that has a cat that is part owner of a casting bench. :bigsmyl2:

This should help ease your mind. This is from last September :)

It's always that way. My work van is the same way. I can't stand clutter. It will be a mess when using it but I spend the time to clean it up every time. I won't post pics of the tools laid out neatly in the tool box in case someone's wife is looking at the site

Mine is so piled up with other stuff I have to push it aside to make room to cast. My space has some ingots, pot, and an old coat folded up with and old towl on top of that to drop boolits on.

Thanks for that much anyway.
I'm not a big fan of clutter but danged if I'm not good at attracting it. I will say I like to get the decks cleared for action before I start but after that..... :dung_hits_fan:
