I've been trying to work out a deal to buy some lead off of Craig's list.. they look good in the picture and from what I can see I estimate approximately 96-100 muffin ingots. The add stated approx. 300 lbs which I thought was a bit high...so the guy messages me back saying "i checked the weight and it's 255 lbs." Is it possible for a muffin ingot to weigh that much???These things better be moon pies lol

Take a scale with you and weigh a few randomly chosen ingots. Multiply the average by the number of ingots and you will have a good guess at the total weight.

2 to 3 pounds should be in the ball park for muffin ingots.

All depends on the mold. Some cast iron muffin pans make really big ingots. I've seen some that weigh upwards of 4-5 pounds.

I think I did alright just did the deal and by feel they are 3lb ish. The guy seemed knowledgeable about firearms and such, brought up cast boolits and he was already in the know. :cbpour:Thanks for your input guys.

The first lead ingots I made where with the most common muffin size and I filled the muffin cavities to the top. If I remember correctly, 2-lbs 10-oz was right about where the average weight of each ingot was, so about 2.6-lbs. The weight he reports sounds right on if he completely filled the muffin cavity and the cavities are the most common muffin size.

The muffin pan I was using had cavities that where about 2.5" wide at the top, 1.75" wide at the bottom, and 1" deep, and I filled those about 90-95%.
