New Ideal Bullet (308291, 319295, 321297, 375296)

NEW IDEAL BULLET.

The new Ideal bullet No. 308284, with metal gas check, recently brought out by the Ideal Manufacturing Company, New Haven, Conn., for use in the 30-40 Krag rifle, has proved to be such a success that the users of the various sporting rifles have been demanding similar bullets for their arms.

The Ideal Manufacturing Company inform us they are now prepared to furnish moulds, tools and gas checks for the following:30-30 Winchester, Marlin & Savage, 303 Savage, 32 Winchester special, 32 Marlin H. P., 32-40 H. P. and 38-55 H. P. rifles.

Illustrations of these bullets show that- the Ideal Manufacturing Company have gone a step further with these than they did with those for military use, for they can be made with hard or soft point. To make both bullets two moulds will be required, one for the complete bullet and one for the soft tip. The body of the bullet should be cast from hard alloy and the tip from pure lead. The proper charge of powder for all of the 30-30’s and 303 Savage is 22 grains weight of Laflin & Rand lightning, and for all of the others, .32-40, 32 special and 38-55, the charge should be 24 to 25 grains of the same powder.

The bullets in the new Ideal catalogue will be numbered respectively as per above illustrations.

The Marlin Fire Arms Company tested this ammunition and report that after shooting 50 rounds, “The accuracy is good, barrel cleaned easily, showing no trace of leading, and the barrel did not rise but about one half in temperature as when using the regular high power ammunition." It is claimed for this ammunition that it can be made much cheaper than the price of the factory product. The individual can use his old shells over and over until they are worn out.

It is also claimed to be a. great saving on the wear of the rifle barrel. Price of moulds, $1.50 each, special list. Price of metal gas checks for 30-30 and 303 Savage, $1 per thousand, special list. Price of metal gas checks for 32-40 H. P. and 32 Winchester & Marlin special H. P., $1.10 per thousand, special list. Price of metal gas checks for 38-55, $1.20 per thousand, special list.
