I am currently using a lee classic loader for my 30-06 and my 45-70 and love them. I am wondering if there is something like that for the 7.62x39. i have already sent lee a email and they said that they do not make it.
any of you guys out there know of something like the lee classic loader for the 7.62x39 or something that would work in that same style or adaptable? I already have a hand press and dies for that caliber just looking for something in the classic style.
thanx!!
Doesn't the classic loader neck size only ?
A lot of 7.62 X 39 auto loader rifles would need a F/L sized round.
Most likely this is the reason that Lee won't make it.

yeah but if you were talking about something like a cz usa carbine, which is bolt action box mag, then neck sizing only would work no problem.

I would be reloading for both a bolt gun and a semi. I understand for the semi needing FL case resizing but most of my shooting is done with my bolt where neck sizing is acceptable.
Keep in mind that Lee has to look at the " Big Picture ".
They are aware that the great majority of 7.62 X 39 reloaders will need their cases to be F/L sized.
Are there a few out there with bolt action rifles that could really put one to use in their bolt action rifles, Yes.
Is it worth it to Lee to make it, most likely not.

What about a regular set of lee dies with their hand press. Not the same I'll grant you but at least you don't get anxious beating on live primers.

I have and use the lee hand press now just wanted another preferred option as it is still more compact.
Just cut off a .303 British tool for the 7.62X39. The front end of the .303 is nearly identical to the Rooski round.

thanx for that! i will promptly look at that. any chance you or any one else has already done this? also, has anyone out there ever tried cutting or working this type of steel? is it hardened? would this be an easy task?
Hmmm. I think F/L sizing a long bottle necked case with a Lee Loader would be pretty difficult. You would be beating on the case head pretty hard and could bend the rim...
jes thinkin'...

Prolly not with the 762x39, its a tapered round.
Besides I think some of the older Lee kits that had the neckturners and primer tools did FL sizing didn't they?
And you'd really have to make 2 762x39 types, one for 0.308, and one for 0.311
I'd like one in 0.311 please.
I think some of the older Lee kits that had the neckturners and primer tools did FL sizing didn't they?
No, I don't think so................
A .44 magnum case can be pretty hard to drive into a Lee Loader sizing die, why would a 7.62x39 be any easier?

I know nothing about this LeWilson neck die and press. Any direction or pix?

By the time you go to the expense of going the Wilson route for a single caliber, you may as well dive headlong into reloading and buy everything you need to do the full job correctly. Wilson doesn't make a press, so this is why an arbor press was mentioned, and Wilson dies are seriously expensive, see for yourself: http://www.lewilson.com/

Just wanted to do a public "THANX" to EDG. he pointed me to the .303 lee loader and try cutting it down on the back side for length only. I tried it and found that I need to cut off .625 off of the back side and it will give my 7.62x39 steel cases a perfect .306 ID that should be perfect for taking a .311 gas checked Boolit in it.
Perfect for reloading with minimal equipment in the bush. and YES. I do reload steel cased 7.62x39 ammo
