Interesting read.

Question, is the "cosmic" that is described as a heavy oil what we think of as cosmoline today?

I'm 68 years old now and I won a 1898 Krag on a board at the age of 17 in 1964. It is in fair or good condition and has never been cut down. The barrel was rough inside the bore when I won it but it still shoots. I purchased a box of factory ammo at the time and took it to the range to check out. I still have the remainer of that box of ammo.
How much would a rifle like this be worth today, I'm not speaking of an etched in granite price as it's unseen but a ball park figure as I have some things I need to move out. Later David

If the rifle is all original, the value would be between $500.00 and $3,000.00 dollars. Quite a spread right? But condition is everything and without the rifle in hand, I cannot determine the condition.
