Was just looking at my Marlins and could see the front base rear screw hole was drilled thru the reciever , didn't take out the bolt but suspect the rear base screws are also drilled thru , my question is how deep is the front base front screw hole drilled into the reciever as the chamber is under that screw ?

Probably through the receiver as well - but should be N.P., since the receiver was most likely machined, including D/T, etc, prior to barrel installation.

I'm sure that would be true for factory base mount holes but I was asking for the older Marlins that didn't have the holes drilled and tapped at the factory . :) I'll get some kind of measurement and go from there I guess . 1/4" to 5/16 " probably be close enough I think useing a bottoming tap .
