need someone with a ballistics calculator or some experience to give me an idea for a 3030 load using a 120 cast gas checked bullet out of a 16 inch barrel at 1500 fps and another at 2000. I have about any powder you could suggest so have at it.

Lloyd,

You can just use the loading data for any 120 or 125g jacketed bullet. Yeah, there will be some slight differences between jacketed and cast, but you'll find more difference between two comparable rifles. As far as hitting the exact velocity you want, just calculate your charges (DOWNWARD!!) by proportion. For example, say you have data that says use 30 grains of powder XYZ for 120g jacketed to get 2500 fps. 1500 fps / 2500 fps = 0.6 times 30g = 18g for 1500 fps. Simple, but it's surprisingly accurate. About as good as you'll do without a chronograph anyhow.

But one word of caution!! ALWAYS calculate downwards from published data. NEVER calculate up! You can turn your rifle into a bomb quicker and slicker than greased lightening. But downward is always safe.

I had a gentleman that was into shooting some of the older military rifles , 6.5 Swede being his joy , he said to take the starting load for a condom bullet and multiply by 85% and you would have a start load for a boolit of the same weight , of coarse we know some powders ain't compatible with is formula but overall I have had good luck using this with my weapons , 3031 , 2015 , H4895 , just a few that come to mind all seem to do well with boolits. I would also look in the Lyman Cast book but I'm not sure if they go with that lite of a boolit .
