Which Powder To Start With?

I had my Ruger No.3 re-barreled in .327 Federal Magnum and will be shooting 165 grain plain base cast boolits. I will be breech seating the boolits.
I wondering which smokeless powder to start off with? Opinions are appreciated.

Anything you can find these daze! One cannot be too picky. Buy what you can and figure out the loads from there.

I think I would try something in the range of H4227 to IMR 4198 if it were me. You might check what the people at the assra site are using.

My reasoning is strong rifle, small case, heavy bullet.

What kind of velocity are you wanting? Since you said you are going to breech seat, I am guessing that all you really need is enough power to reliably penetrate target paper, correct?
