I picked this up on Amazon for 9 bucks. The bowl and shank are one piece of stainless so there's no rivet or spot weld to fail. It skims fast and does a really great job!

I always wear heavy welding gloves when I'm cooking range scrap stew. :bigsmyl2:

It sure beats the old slotted spatula with the bent up edges I was using.

Remove the rubber and replace with wood or steel.

I looked at some like that but they were a very light weight welded construction and didn't seem very sturdy. I was scraping the bottom of the pot with mine and it didn't so much as flex.

I use a slotted spoon for the scraping part and this for just removing the jackets, don't need much strength.

I have been using similar pierced cooking spoons for over thirty years. They are all one piece solid stainless steel with no joints or rivets. I have gotten most of them over the years for a dollar or two at local thrift stores. Even at the same price as the ad they would be a better buy as they are better quality

Use a similar one.......$1 at the junk store! But that was just luck.

Works very well.

I use one that was part of a five piece set from Amazon that was under $10. Just checked on same set is a lil over $21 and it was only a year or so ago.

As I recall, $2.49 at WalMart. It has pulled the trash off well over 2 tons of indoor range scrap and a few hundred pounds of WW and still going strong.

I think I paid a buck or so for my skimmer. It was a messhall serving spoon in it's previous incarnation. I beadblast it and paint it with mould release every so often to increase its efficiency.

I use a ICE FISHING skimmer, similar to this. I straightened the part with the holes, so I can use it as a regular spoon type tool:

I got these. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ESJ7CHI?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00 Sturdy and cheap.

The bowls are kinda shallow. Good for skimming, but not ladling.

Same here. I got an old stainless slotted spoon and ladle at Goodwill. I think it was a buck for both. The ladle holds a bit more than my muffin molds, which is perfect for filling them in one scoop.
