Mine feeds them .38's just fine but I still limit my shooting to only .357 cases. Since I use mine for hunting as well. As if you shoot too many .38's you may hurt the chamber with a ring due to the shorter case. I find that you can still down load the .357 Mag as well as load it up to take game. But that is just my thought.

And I have to say if I was looking for another .357 or .44 MAGNUM I would jump on that Big 5 Deal. Thank You for posting this. :)

The deal is I have a LOT more .38 Special brass , than I have .357 Mag .

I understand what you are describing about lead build-up in the chamber . This would necitate more frequent cleaning of the chamber with maybe a .40 bore brush ?

Will your rifle feed SWC's ?

P. S. Forgot to add , I do not work for Big 5 , but I have purchased several lever guns there .

Mine feeds .38s, even .38 wadcutters, just fine. You don't need to worry about shooting .38s in a .357, there is plenty of room in the standard chamber to accomodate the small amount of fouling left behind (i.e. clearances of .007 to .008", and a couple of thousandths fouling). This is only an issue in extreme cases -- like in the Fredom arms revolvers that are cut to very tight tolerances (e.g .002" clearances).

Mine feeds almost anything, except for flush seated wadcutters.

Just clean it after ever use and you will never have a problem. My Rossi (circa 1970) has had thousands of 38 specials and no problems with 357's yet. My Marlin's would feed the shorter shells just fine.

My .357 feeds .38's with no problem. It even feeds .38 wadcutters, though I leave mine about 1/8 inch out of the case.

I pulled up the local Big 5 ad, and it features athletic shoes and a couple airsoft contraptions--one resembling a Thompson SMG. De-horned For California, obviously.

How time flies......:-?

Just recently having made the decision to get back into reloading (along with I think 20 gazillion others....) I found an interesting relic while going through my old reloading "stash".
Buried among the various bullet....oops....excuse me...new to the site.....boolit  boxes, dies, powder measures, etc., I found the original receipt and owner's manual for the very first gun I ever bought. A Marlin 336 C. Receipt dated Sept. 1975. Fred Meyer's in Lynnwood WA. $84.95 plus tax.....sigh.....
I miss the good old days. :(

Must be different prices for different parts of the country / nation ?

By now , I think the sale has expired ?

The Big 5 rifles seem to have the " economy " wood , but so far , I have managed to live with that . :-)

I have purchased 4 - 5 lever guns from them .
