Figured I'd let you guys know I saw a .375 Win at Cabelas that would make someone a fine cast boolit lober. Ruger #3 carbine for less than $900 in Grand Junction in good shape.

Once had one of those with the chamber reamed to H&H.
It was plumb goofy accurate but factory equivalent loads tweren't much fun.

Mine shoots very nice and recoil is a sight more easy to take then 45-70 was.

Hey .45Cole, remember this Ruger from Grand Junction? I thought you might. I haven't given her any range time lately, so accurate it's boring. I am currently fine tuning a newly acquired 1874. The first sight in at 100 yards was promising. All 14 shots in the photo included sight adjustments. Since then I installed a taller front sight so a 100 yard sight in is now possible.

I remember vaguely; wasn't it in a wildcat, like 25 Krag or something? Sure is pretty!
I moved up to the Western Slope so I haven't seen how green the east slope is.

Yes, the "Pawnee Grasslands" are very green with a lot of standing water in the low areas. It's a 50 mile drive from the foothills but it's good for the mind and soul. The region is teeming with life. The custom #1 is chambered in .375 Win.

Call me names if you must, but for considerably less than $900 I can get a bolt gun in 375 Ruger that will shoot the exact same bullets at the same speeds or much faster. And brass for it is on the shelves today. Unless it has spectacular wood I don't see a #3 being worth $900 as a shooter.

A lot cheaper than Cabelas too.

Why stop there? - just get a .378 Wby or something else nearly worthless for shooting lead bullets.

I found out how to shoot home cast in my 375 Weatherby - tubular cast in place jackets - 3/8 copper tubing to be precise.

Just yesterday I used my 375 Ruger LH express rifle to put three NOE 275 grain cast hollow points into a <2" group at 100 yards. They were going 1950 fps at the time.

We must have different definitions of worthless.
