I made a deal with a fellow in Maine for a nice old Marlin 1893 of 1908 vintage in the 32 HPS cartridge (32 Winchester Special) . This old gun has a 26" half octagon half round barrel with a half mag , straight grip and hard rubber buttplate .

But as if that were not enough I went into the local gun shop today looking for some buckshot to reload and came across a "slightly" used Marlin 336D . It has two small nicks in the stock and the blueing is about perfect . Now for those of you not familiar with the 336D it is a special run Davidson's made back about 6 or 7 years ago . Only made 1001 of them , they look just like a Marlin 1895G except they are in 35 REM caliber .

I already had one that I bought new about 5 years ago . And I told him as much when he showed it to me . But the price he offered it at made me think perhaps I need one 336D for jacketed bullets and another for cast [smilie=1:

So he has it in the back with my name on it now

Your making me want one.Can you get Marlin to make more of them.I spend most of my spare time casting and shooting and can't ever find one like that.

They won't talk to me at Marlin anymore !

I think they got tired of me raising heck over the demise of the 1895RL and the fact that they DID NOT make a 336XLR in 32 Special this year [smilie=1:

The 1895RL was supposed to be a rifle on the 1895/336 action that was setup for the 480 Ruger and 475 Linebaugh !

After quite a bit of deliberation on my part I have about decided not to get the 32 HPS !

There is nothing I am aware of wrong with this rifle and in no way was it mis represented to me . I just for some reason feel the need to curb my gun spending [smilie=1:

I'd still like to have but just do not want to spend the money !

6pt-sika,

Out of curiosity, what is the seller asking for the rifle? It does look very nice for it's age...

Congratulations, that's one beautiful Maine woods rifle. You don't see very many like that in the hands of hunters anymore.
