I was wondering if someone could help identify if this is a super turret or just a regular turret press. Cause the booklet says super turret but the super turrets I have seen are differenthttp://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06/15/0ebff4d33ed5b88a5acd9c74f73a9d69.jpg

Sorry. It's not a Super Turret.

Welcome to the forum. AK is correct.

What you have is the all aluminum Turret Tool. This is the most common of the Universal series and produced from 1955 forward.

It appears that you have all the necessary dies and tools needed for loading one size of shot shell, I presume 12 gauge?

Here's a picture of a Super Turret without the swage bars and one with the bars.

If you had to estimate, what do you think this specific one could bring in

Alvarez Kelly

Well... Where are you located? Shipping can be a problem with these large heavier presses. But. I'd give $300 for what I see I the picture, shipped to me.

Anyone else? :-)

Just a quick question to the Hollywood fans here ...
Am I mistaken or is it possibly they used the original tower/body from the first model with the 3 hole (assuming so) for the ongoing multiple hole turret models that came later ?

Kevin Rohrer
06-20-2015, 07:11 PM
Yes. The early Model-1 or A with the 3-hold turret head was also available with the 12-hole turret called a Model-2 or B, pictured below:

The body shape was then changed for the Model-3:

I may sell it here, I'm not sure how much to ask, cause I have more stuff too, I just got Winchester shot shells and fully loaded vintage Winchester no 12 ranger bullets but idk If I can ship those

Can somebody help me identify here. I know there are 2 Hollywood measures, but and then 308 Winchester dies I think, I'm not sure if the other pieces go with the press or what. Please help!

Wayne Smith

Shipping loaded ammo requires an ORMD label and usually going to your local main hub, for me close to the Norfolk airport. The rest can be shipped just as any machine tool can be shipped. Any primers or powder are best sold locally. You have primer seaters that go with the press and a couple of dies I don't recognize, as well as the 308 die. Others can chime in on the specific dies. The powder measures can be sold separately or as part of the package.

LUBEDUDE

The bolts in the bag are for bolting the press to the bench.
The smallest piece is the rifle shell holder that goes with the 2 (win 308) dies, which all go into the red plastic box.
The real long black micrometer die is the Hollywood multi tool for shot shell loading.
The remaining 4 pieces that form a straight line in the photo are as follows from left to right:
Primer stem appears to be for shotgun primers, Shot shell holder, brass wad fingers - may be an extra set. They go inside the final item which is the shot shell resizer/wad guide tool, it MUST go with Micrometer Multi Tool. If not, both are useless without the other- the guide tool that is.

A dollar to the donut says the measure without the spout is a Shot Measure. The drum has been "fox tailed" to prevent binding of the shot when the drum is turned. The other is the powder measure.
If I remember correctly, you had 2 other shot shell dies in the press.
This gives you a complete outfit for loading shot shells. It would be best to sell it as a set. And it would probably bring more. Then sell the press separately. This would give you a larger selling audience.

Here is a pic of mine properly set up.

Also are pics showing how the Multi-Tool and Sizer/Wad Guide function.

As far as what your goods have been bringing on eBay:

The aluminum Turret Tools generally go for $300-400 on average. Of course there are exceptions and timing is everything. Steel frame Universal III's are in more demand, the last one went for a little over $500.

Shot shell dies with whole kit, excluding measures average anywhere from $100-150. Again, that's just average. If there hasn't been one for sale for some time, then bidding tends to go high. I haven't seen a complete kit in some time. ****

Your aluminum measures are in excellent shape and complete with caps- big plus! Should bring $90- ????? Each! Rather than the usual $50-75.

Your literature being original is unique, maybe list each piece for a starting bid of $20 and see where it goes.

****
another advantage of selling the shot shell dies separate from the press is, they can be used on Hollywood Senior Turret presses. This expands your sales audience.

Thank you so much you cleared up a lot. Just a few more questions. So the only thing in that batch that is necessary to go with the press would be the mounting bolts right? I could sell the rest as a set? Also, There are 2 dies already in the press, should I leave them in there and sell them with the press or should I remove them and sell them with the other dies and measures? http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/06/28/eaf6b60208ce45a9c8b0efbf7bf6b7b5.jpg

Glad to see a better pic of your press!

To answer your questions:

Sell the bag of bolts with the press.

The 2 dies in the press are shot shell dies that need to go with the shot shell set, NOT the press.

If you want to add a prop for sales spice, you can put those rifle dies in the press from the red box to add value. Or, try to get $10-15 for them. But sometimes having the dies in the press psychologically helps justify higher bids to the bidder.

Now your press is nice. However it is not original since it has been repainted. I have seen this as a huge plus at times, and also a negative. It just depends upon who is doing the buying- collectors or end users. It's anyone's guess on how it will do. I believe it will do well though.

If you wish to talk more specifics feel free to shoot me a PM if you want to call me or PM.

Best of Luck

Michaels,

Lubedude is right on with his info and prices, I don't belive his Hollywood teachings can be improved on and that they should be put in a sticky for new hollywood fans to learn with. Prices do go up and down a little depending on the seasons and condition of said tooling. Yours looks pretty good compared to the rusted junk some people claim to be in good condition when trying to sell.

Good luck.

That or we will wait and then call the seller and try to convince them to sell it to us after the deal is squared away. (That's what happened with me so it only seems fair. *roll eyes* )

11 bids and over $1100 so far, going to be fun to watch.

I have a Hollywood super turret press that I just picked up and would like to know if I could get an electronic copy of the two documents you show in your picture. Since it’s five years later I assume you have more information now on the history of your press. If so would appreciate any updates you have now. Great press and I’m trying to get mine back in working order.
Thanks for any information you can provide.
