Not sure where this belongs but I just saw a mind-boggling collection of Civil War era percussion breach loading and rimfire rifles at my local Gun Library. Some I'd hardly heard of, some I'd read about and never seen, all were in very good condition and I got to handle and cycle the action in all of them! Can't even begin to tell you all the makers but there were at least eight of them. The variety of different actions was amazing, can see where some of our later rifles came from. Should have taken a few pictures just for reference but I guess I'll just have to read up a bit and go back and take some notes. I'd like to spend a few weeks looking these old guns over and reading about their history.
They all came from a collection somewhere in AZ and I'm sure it took someone a lifetime to gather up these historical firearms. They're not on the website yet but they're working on it.
