New grandbaby. Time for a new gun........

This is the third one. A girl, perfectly healthy.

The other g-kids are three and four. I have a .22LR rifle ready for each of them. The 4-year old has a Marlin Mountie with a peep-sight ready for him when he is old enough to shoot (it is coming soon). The 3-year old has a Ruger 10-22 with a scope on it when she is old enough to shoot. Both were brand new before I shot them in.

Now I have to think of one for the new baby. I have plenty of time to get one. I am thinking of something that is different from the above, can be bought new, and will last a lifetime without trouble (I still have the very first gun I was given -- a Marlin 39A with a peep-sight). Suggestions?

Crickets and/or Chipmunks - fit is as important for a kid learning as it is for a boolit. Get a gun that will fit the small frame of the kid, then, when they are teenagers, help them choose their adult gun.

Number one, congrats on the Grandkids, got a pair of my own that just moved away from me for a few years from North Dakota to Jacksonville North Carolina.

One of mine will get lucky and get an old 1890 Winchester pump gallery gun. I also have one of the early 70's Ruger 10/22's with walnut stock in very good condition yet.

I saw someone up above mention the Ruger American Rimfire. They seem like a pretty solid rifle.
