I got an RBCS lube-a-matric the other day and I am looking for the 15/16 wrench that came with the sizer new. Would any body happen to have one laying around? tdoor3040@yahoo.com

If anyone has one lying around, it's RCBS. Bet they'd give you one for free if you called them. Their customer service is some of the best in the industry. However, don't be surprised if you find out they didn't ship a wrench with the lube-a-matic. Best I've seen is an allen wrench in a die set or a set of allen wrenches that came with the Dillon.

Just talked with RCBS and the wrench is discontinued , part # 80099 die locking cap wrench. according to rcbs a wrench was packed with a new lube-a-matic . I am hoping that someone will still have one laying around.

After mine broke down from years of usage I went to Home Depot and bought a reversable double ended ratcheting wrench in 1/4x5/16" size. Others have also used a socket from a 1/4" socket set with a 1/4" ratchet wrench.Robert

NO, :) this is a BIG wrench for removing the sizing die retaining nut

I shopped flea markets looking for just the right deal. I think it was a dollar with open and box ends. I intended to hack saw the box end off to five or so inches long for better storage options but so far just using it as is. I also use a 1/4" ratcheting wrench for the lube screw same as Robert.

I just use an 8" crescent, has worked good enough for 35+ years.

I had a set of CHEEEP stubby wrenches. The best use I found for them was to use the 7/8" and 15/16" for the die retaining nuts on the Lyman 450 and RCBS Lubamatic. Being short ~five inches long, you aren't tempted to try to put 9,000 ft lbs of torque on those very fine threads.

Before that it was an 8 or 10" Crescent hammer, whichever one came to hand first.

I have my original one I got with the Lube-a-Matic, and it is a pretty simple piece of 1/8" plate steel that has been punched out to size. If you are energetic enough you could easily make one with a little work with a hack saw, drill and files if you are careful. I have made several "special purpose" wrenches for my reloading equipment this way and they work well for many years and don't wear out.

I went to Sears and bought one stubby wrench. Still using it.

Go to Sears and look for the skinny wrenches they sell. The wrench is designed to get into tight spots.
Another route to take is to go to the Dillon Press site and purchase a supply of their die nuts and the Dillon wrench to install and remove them. The nuts are much smaller than those used by other companies and are much easier to work with in tight spots. The wrench is made from flat stock and has a 7/16 on one end and the other is cut for the 1 inch nut. I changed all of my dies over. Later David

/\ That would be the best solution in my book.
The second best would be to simply make one from some flat stock.

I got an RBCS lube-a-matric the other day and I am looking for the 15/16 wrench that came with the sizer new.

I found a surplus 15/16 flare nut wrench on fleabay. Works well.

"Still have the protective material on them." I think it's cosmoline. A simple spritz with WD-40 will NOT clean it off.

Now that you mention it I haven't seen my sizer die wrench for a couple of days either. Have to look around the shop a time or 2 and see what I find.

Now that I know which nut you need a wrench for.... I have 2 Lyman 450 lubers that I never did have the factory wrenchs for. I used a crescent wrench along with channel lock pliars to remove or install the nut. Then I happened on to the "perfesser" and his version on this type nut wrench. It`s like discovering sliced bread all over again! Pretty sure he makes them for the RCBS lubers, you just need to let him know which one you have.Robert

I added a new LAMII to my bench last fall. No wrench of any kind came with it, not even an allen wrench for the TP screw.

An alternate approach to this problem is to pick up a Lyman die lock nut wrench, like the one that comes with the Lyman 450 and 4500 lube/sizers, and use a Dremel tool and a small file to enlarge each side of the nut opening until it will fit the RCBS die lock nut. Took me about 15-20 minutes to do this and when it fit properly I used buffing wheels on the Dremel to smooth up the opening and then cold blued the altered areas. Works like a charm and looks as if it was OEM!

Heck of a deal. I spent $15 for a 15/16" end wrench recently.

My LAM-II didn't come with a wrench; until reading this thread, I didn't even know what size that nut was, since I just use whatever adjustable wrench or channel pliers is closest at hand.

I purchased one of these from Smoke4320. You can't 'crank it down' with great force like a metal wrench, but I don't want it tightened down like that anyway. You can tighten it firm enough that you don't have to worry about it backing out or anything. It is a great way to go and you have have it made in green.
