So I acquired a 1941 Finn Mosin ..after about 4 hours of rigorist cleaning.. Bore slugs 309 ..
trigger at this point is horrible (to be fixed later)

I have a NOE 311-247 HP Flat base mold I have been working with my 300 Blackout.. Have had real good luck finding a Subsonic and a 1450 FPS load for.. Bullets are powdercoated Jet Black
Thought what the heck I should try it in this Mosin

12 grns of Unique gets me 1373 FPS Average and a SD of 5.1
50/50/2 Alloy
Group size of 1.25".. 100 yds open sights.. old eyes and very bad trigger

shot 3 more 5 shot groups before I called it good enough to invest time to do a good trigger job and some tweeking to the load..
Sometimes you just luck into a good load from the start

That is good grouping. At what range (distance) were you shooting?

I've found ,that with my Finn it's harder to find a bad load than a good one. It shoots just about everything I put through it with excellent accuracy. The only pet load it doesn't like is the 13gr reddot.

I am back to shooting mine and just made a Scout Scope mount for it. ( My OLD eyes just aint what they use to be )
They are great shooters.
With a little work, and a worked up load, they will shoot 1" groups all day long at 100

You can install a M39 type trigger. Probably better than any "trigger job" that can be done.

I shoot 32 grains of h4895 under the lyman 314299 sized .311 in both of my mosins. books say 1900-ish fps and keeps em on a 8x12 metal gong at 200m.
