Calling all Corbin S press folks. When using M dies, it seems to me the stroke length of the press is not forgiving. I'm having a hard time meeting each step at camover. It seems like the ram is a little over halfway instead of handle all the way down. Why am I screwing this up? Its not a problem with the S dies.

I am using the same set up and instead of "camming over" I have a positive stop set up at the very bottom limit of the presses stroke! I like it a lot better as I find that if cammed over, the pressure in the die drops off less controllably. With a posatve stop, you have better control of the dwell time at the end of the pressure stroke. Beside that , the dimensions of the "m" and "s" dies ( with the exception of diameter ) should be the same? It sounds as though you are counting on the steps all to fall in the same place as far as punch adjustment?

The m dies are a good bit shorter. I havent measured but the S dies I have are all bigger. I not a firm believer in camover but it would be nice to have a positive stop like you say.

I don't have any issues using M-dies in my S-Press. Double check to make sure you have it in swaging mode (2" stroke not 4") and that your punch holder is adjusted properly. You can fit a wide range of die and punch lengths in that press.

[smilie=2: And there it was. Guess what I was doing last time I used the Corbin? Any takers? I was ready to throw the thing away. Turns out I should hire a new brain.

This is why we have a forum. Have gear, need brains.

I drew about 2000 jackets the last time I used it. Then I moved about a hundred miles so this is the first its been out of the moving box.

I use mine for reloading too, so that's how I got into the same situation.
