Wrote an article with lots of pictures about my adventure today installing a Ruger hand spring in place of the flat spring in my 1860 Pietta conversions.

Beagle...I'm not sure if that part is long enough. In the article I referenced, the author makes note of this. He recommends the Ruger Pawl Plunger KE51 (Brownells 780-001-231) and the Ruger Cylinder latch spring KH05000 (Brownells 780-000-464)

But any small coil spring and a piece of drill rod will work. It just needs to be smaller than .100" in diameter.

I got the number from the famous Pettifogger articles on tuning open top revolvers. But I haven't converted any of mine, I just like them original.

He details the procedure in part 2, photo 33, of Tuning the Uberti open top revolvers. I didn't know if there was a difference in Pietta and Uberti in that area.

I used an o-ring as a hand spring in my Uberti .357. it worked till more parts needed changing lol
