I found this in some random ammo I picked up. At first I thought it was a 7.62x54 R untill I stood it next to one. The length is right but the shoulder is off. The rim is also thinner and headstamp is remington 17. Any thoughts on what this is? Did they change the sholder at some point ? 140946

Could be Finn 7.62x53 or Argentine 7.62x53

Good to know. I figgured that REM made ammo for Russia . They put out contracts to anyone that would accept. The sholder and rim thickness just stumped me

Yes--definitely a WW I Remington-made 7.62x54Rmm. Collector cartridge! Don't shoot it!
