On a hot and steamy morning in Fresno, California on this day May 27, 1951, where the temperature was nearly 100° at 11:47 am there came into this world a baby boy who would grow up into a man, fulfill his goals in life and who would one day find himself on the invention of algore at a place where he found people with like interests, a place to spend his moments of leisure as the person known as Hickory.

Maybe they'll stop asking you for your I.D. now when you buy a six-pack of beer.

Happy birthday.

Happy B'day Hickory, So did you remember the temp or look it up using algore's invention??:kidding:

My mom told me about the days leading up to my birth, as she did with all of us kids.
We did not have a TV until 1961. And only because my dad saw a preview of the Beverly Hillbillies at someone's house on their TV.
Most times, before TV, we spent our evenings reading, listening to the radio or telling stories.
Life was good back then.

I'd have stayed inside where it was shady.

Not much air conditioning back then.

Hickory, good thing you moved out of Fresno. Not the same town it was in the 60's. Mexican gang banger haven now. My cousin retired from the Fresno Police Dept. and moved to Oregon after selling his home on the outskirts of Fresno.

Happy Birthday from an OLD guy born the same day BUT 15 years earlier (1936).

Where did the years go to?

Now my brag time.

Born at home and mom said it was around 100 degrees OUTSIDE but we lived on the third floor with the windows open.

Well that was 79 years ago and the hospitals are still waiting for my first visit.

Well Hickory, today topped out at just 90! Let's see, was St Agnes Hospital the place that recorded your birth or was Community Hospital around then? Born and raised here though I spent many years away, but will be moving out of California soon because of the political climate. I do have to admit that the older I get the less I tolerate the heat. Happy Birthday brother.

I was a resident of California for only two years, my mom was from Ohio and met my dad during WW 2, got married and moved to Fresno after the war. My dad was born and raised there outside of Fresno on a ranch.
My mom got to missing her family back in Ohio and loaded my older brother and me up on a train and came home. After several months, dad followed her here and never went back.
